No longer on strike

Made a deal with my muse, which requires me to draw a comic about her.

What have I gotten myself into?

Mind you, I never started out with the intent to make this, it just happened on its own

Boy it's windy

We are getting the after effects of the hurricane that is in the gulf; lots of wind and rain. Doesn't make for very pleasant weather, that's for sure.

And before I forget, I was told it can take 2-3 weeks to find out if I got the job or not. So here's to hoping!

Job interview

Had one this morning, not sure if I got the job. What worries me is the 'thanking me for my interest' thing they said before I left, not sure if that is a sign that they won't be hiring me or if they say it to everyone.

I hope I get the job though, I need some sort of income coming in.

Soul bread!

Just to share what I am making today for a Samhain circle I am going to later:

I made my own version of Soul bread (it's supposed to be more like a cake, but I went with bread), made from scratch and OH are they ever good (they have powdered sugar on top). You can see where I tested out one of the smaller muffin style soul breads, and I have more in the oven because I made WAY too much dough.

My whole apartment smells of bread goodness :3

Happy Halloween!

May your ghouls and ghosts be plentiful!

As per tradition, I have posted a Samhain post on my pagan filter, and this post is for those of you not on said filter. Have a wonderful Halloween everyone!

I made some shirts!

or rather, I put my artwork on shirts. I don't know if anyone is going to buy any besides me (when I can afford it), but I figured someone might like one or two of them. Also, I plan on doing some other shirt designs, but this is if anyone really wants them.

But here, have a look for yourselves and see what you think :3

Blue screen OF DEATH

D:!!! My laptop gave me the blue screen of death this morning when I went to turn it on. It took 3 restarts to get it up and running, and now I'm afraid to shut it down for fear that it won't turn back on again.

I really, REALLY don't need this right now. I don't have any funds what so ever to get a new one; hell, I barely have enough for food and I still am trying to figure out where my rent for next month is going to come from (along with my phone, internet, and insurance bills).

I rely heavily on my laptop to be able to produce my art that I post (well, not all of it. I still do a lot of traditional art, but I do now enjoy the freedom of being able to produce digital art), as well as I use it to keep in touch with those I know and also keep up with my bills that I have. Like I said before, if this laptop goes, I'm going to be gone for who knows how long until I can replace it (sadly I can't do commission work or birthday gift art if my system kicks the bucket).

I wish I had this sort of issue when I was making money, I could have replaced it then instead of fast-forwarding to now, finding that my system is failing, and unable to replace it with a decent desktop PC.

*headdesks a few dozen times*

Ugh... wish me some luck that a good windfall comes by way, and I happen upon the funds I need to replace my laptop before it finally just doesn't turn on anymore.

I found some old papers

I found these really old papers in a box, and they have to be from when I was like 15 or 16. I rewrote the first part to what I saw written down to make more sense (plus the grammar was AWFUL, and lets not talk of the spelling mistakes).

Once, long ago, in a history that was never written, or perhaps a time that was long forgotten, lived a race of beings that flourished in a world of mystery and magic. The beings of this world are creatures that thrive in our own imaginations and folklore, made into nothing more than simple ‘fairy tales’ told to children. But do not let these stories fool you, they were once a real place long, long ago; and it is in the minds of children that these stories still live and survive, remaining more than a mere memory.

As children grow, they tend to loose touch with those very ties to that world of wonder and mystery. It is only when they become adults that they finally ‘chose’ to no longer remember, leaving behind fantasy for ‘reality’. It is only children, with that child-like wonder, that can really imagine this world for all that it truly is, while the adults chose to not believe. Adults do not play as children, no longer joining them in their fantasy games, loosing touch with the very thing children sincerely believe in: a world where magic is truly and utterly REAL. Dragons, Fae, Knights in shining armor, Princesses to be rescued, Wizards and Warlocks, Demons, monsters, and other such things roam free and unrestrained by the concepts of the modern world.

That is why I choose to write down these memories, to make a written record of things I am sure to forget once I choose to no longer believe in Magic.

Desktop Meme

☞ Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper.
☞ Explain in no more than five sentences why you're using that wallpaper!
☞ Don't change your wallpaper before doing this! The point is to see what you had on!

I drew it, I love it, I stuck it on my desktop; that's about the only reason why it's there. Everything else on the desktop is either for commissions or files I need to move.

Commissions?

Yes, I have broken down again and am trying to offer commissions in order to earn enough fund to buy a new computer to replace my failtastic laptop. I hope these work, and I also am taking donations if people do not wish to ask for art, but would still like to help me out somehow.

Beach bunny

Apparently I'm going to the beach for a few days with [info]amakarie and her parents because they have free timeshare for a few days. So I'm gonna go get some free sun and surf, and hang out with [info]amakarie.

See you folks later!

Drumming circle

I'm going to try my hand at carving a few drum shells from an old tree that has long since been cut down (the logs are just sitting on my grandmother's property doing much of nothing) and making 4 handmade drums since that is how many pieces were cut from the log.

I've always had an interest in drums, and I wonder if I make them, would people would want to buy them from me. I keep searching for some sort of niche that I can fill in the art world, keep coming up with ideas that might fly but seem to fall short after taking off. Well if anything, I'll have 4 drums to see what people's interest happens to be (these will be carved by hand since the only power tool I own is a dremel, and that is better suited for decorative work on the outside of the drums).

And hey, at least the goddess gave me free logs to try my hand at this with. The very least I can do for her is see what I can do since this falls into the realm of my degree I got in college (and also my strongest artistic ability).

Day trip

Going to the mountains with my grandma for the day, should be fun and hope to get some pictures :3!

edit: Had loads of fun, considering today was the 1 year anniversary of my grandfather's death, so at least my grandmother wasn't alone today (didn't really get many pictures, I think the best time to take them is in the fall)

Want your own custom oil Diffuser?

The Wallflower plug-in diffusers from Bath and Body Works (which are CHEAP right now) can be refilled with whatever scented oils you want to use by popping off the top that has the wick using nothing more than a flathead screwdriver. Like right now, I have a lavender and eucalyptus mixture in mine, and OH is it working beautifully. And these will last for 6-8 weeks just like any other oil diffuser, but it's MUCH cheaper to fill them than buying a new bulb every time you run out.

As far as the job situation goes, I'm having no luck thus far, but I'm still hunting. Hopefully I'll have luck with maybe finding a federal job, but nothing is set in stone yet.
